The Hate List | 5.16.01

PtKx83: i'm starting a personal hate list
PtKx83: cuz school's almost over
PtKx83: and i don't give a fuck about the kids there anymore

That is how I started my conversation with a friend today.

PtKx83: well, i'll give a name and you give a name
PtKx83: and if we don't know why, we should ask each other
PtKx83: ok?
PtKx83: and it can't be you or me.. cuz then my feelings will be hurt

And thus began an hour of people's names and reasons why we hate them. Why did I do this? It's simple: with the end of high school approaching, I am no longer worried about the social implications of being "friends" with kids, most notably those who I find detestable. Furthermore, with the preoccupation of schoolwork now out of the way, the true personalities and characteristics of people emerge. For most people, it's a shame there's no more school work to cover up their sorry-ass character.

How can you qualify for my hatelist? It's not that hard actually. I'm not overly sensitive, but it's easy to say the wrong thing to me or even make a gesture that'll piss me off. I'm not trying to be "all that" by saying that I get bothered easily or that things make me angry, but sometimes, I amaze myself with the self-restraint that prevents me from acting violently, either verbally or physically.

Here are some things that will piss me off:

1. indifference - say "I don't care" more than you need to and you're automatically on my list; what makes you so cool that you can say "I don't care" to just about anything? No; either you care or it doesn't pertain to you so it's ok to not be involved.

2. laziness - "I don't feel like it" or "I'm too tired" are ok to use if you're exhausted from doing something previously or you've done something so much that you can't do it again; but try saying that when it comes to something like studying or keeping a promise to do something - then I'll give you a nice AOL-style welcome with a mail that tells you you're on my hatelist

3. selfishness - if you hold something dear but other kids want it, then it's up to you to keep it or give it away; but if you have something in abundance and you're not willing to share, then you're screwed. Have a study aid that'll help you on a test? Don't be selfish - share it. You like to take things but never give back? Go shoot yourself because you don't deserve to live if you're not going to share. I'm not Jesus, but I am not one to be obsessed with material possessions. Don't let yourself be dominated by things you own or things you want; they only lead to selfish behavior. If you can be of any assistance to a friend, don't hesitate; just do what you know is right. And if you're playing basketball with me, pass the ball, or I'll add an F between your initials to say that you're fucking things up.

4. lack of self-consciousness - don't be too quick to make fun of people unless you yourself have a certain right to; I have a gap between my teeth, so I never make fun of kids with bad teeth. Don't talk about the nastiness of a person unless you've been with someone who has told you that you are great, charming, good-looking, etc. Don't make fun of anyone at all if you are fat and ugly because you absolutely have no right - get yourself in a fat farm and lose some weight. Be aware of how you are before you go on to criticize others, or else you look like a fool who deserves to be hated.

5. bragging about stupid things - ok, I admit that I brag sometimes about things I've done or things I can do, but I make sure that whatever I do brag about has a positive quality to it, whether it's a good grade or an athletic achievement. Brag about getting the lowest grade in the class and you're an idiot - no matter how cool you think it may be to purposely fail, you're only screwing yourself at the end; and if you say that you "don't care" I hate your ass for indifference. Brag also about skills or tasks that you can't back up and you've just lost trust. Don't brag about how lazy you are because that's two things I hate about you and don't brag about how long you've played video games for because that just shows how pathetic you can be.

6. ignorance - this goes along with indifference; I am a strong opponent of church, namely Korean churches, because they breed ignorance like no other place. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, but that shouldn't give people the license to be stupid. Tell me that evolution never happened, that the Bible is the world's history word for word, or that God put dinosaur bones in the earth to test our faith then I'll tell you that you're ignorant and retarded. Say that you don't care about current events or refuse to take part in a conversation that will learn you something new and I'll shake my head and hope your ignorance is exposed one day so you can get embarassed to death.

7. lack of attention - when someone talks, I listen and allow them to finish; when I talk, I expect the listner to do the same. Interrupt me by saying "I don't care" or "whatever," then I hate you. Interrupt me by saying something totally irrelevant and plain stupid - I'll be very annoyed and eventually hate you. Communication makes friendships and relationships work - if you're too cool to listen and be patient, stick a needle in your ears and make yourself deaf.

Well, it's too late to think of more, but those seven things are all the hateful traits that I can think of at the moment. Maybe I'll add more if I'm angered by more kids. My rage comes primarily from the frustration of not being able to enjoy group outings without being irritated. I thought that it might've been me who had a problem, but upon further review, it's the kids with the problems above who piss the hell out of me. I still have to bear with them until mid-June, but until the end of school, the hate list continues its expansion.
