Royce Brook Golf Course (East)
Located in Hillsborough, NJ is the Royce Brook Golf Club, which was voted Golf Club of the Year by the New Jersey PGA in 2005. Its facilities include two 18-hole golf courses (East and West), two driving ranges, a golf shop, banquet halls, and more. The West course is for members, while the East course is open to the public.
This past Thanksgiving weekend I caught up with my friend Warren, and had the chance to play the East course twice. The first thing that caught my eye was the openess of the course — it had vey few trees, wasn’t particularly hilly, and had vast open fairways. The East course, if played from the longest tees is 6946 yards. The majority of the holes were straight and allowed the use of the driver off the tee — even the dog leg par 4’s and 5’s weren’t too angled. The one hole that sticks out in my mind is the ‘S’ shaped par five on the back nine.
The course was beautiful and well maintained, and the rates weren’t bad. For $50, the greens fee was covered, we got a golf cart, and also had free access to the driving range.
