Praying for a Little Sunshine
This past weekend, my friend Aditya and I decided to brave it out and go against the unpromising weather predictions to make a return trip to the Rutgers Golf Course. Driving by the buildings and practice fields where not even a year ago I was spending so much time brought back a bit of nostalgia.
On our drive down to Piscataway, grey clouds were plentiful and we even encountered a few stretches of rainfall. We were praying for just a little window of sunshine, preferably a three and a half our window. I saw it as a good sign of things to come when we were able to tee off an hour earlier than our scheduled time, and the weather seemed to be cooperating as well. But it was after the fourth hole that the sun came out in full force. The golf gods had come through. Although the humidty was making it a little muggy, it felt just like the beginning of summer. At one of the holes where we had to wait to tee off, I laid flat on my back, basked in the sun, and felt no stress, no worries whatsoever. That’s what a nice round of golf can do.
After the 18 holes, we drove to College Ave and grabbed a bite to eat at Efes, a Mediterranean restaurant. Justin stopped by and decided to join us for a gyro dinner. Even though we still had an hour drive back up, we both felt extremely satisfied about the round of golf we were able to squeeze in thanks to the golf gods.
