That's a Big Bottle of Champagne
[2.14.04] The Lonely Man Club celebrated Valentine's Day at its headquarter, Jay Mung's dormroom in Woodbridge. While Min prepared the dish with the help of our guest Kayle (pictured), I was off somewhere else making a fool out of myself. I came in time to finish the delish stuffed steak dish with potatoes. My Coppola wine contribution (Blue Label!) was just one of three red wines we had that evening - along with some Italian cheesecake and champgne for dessert. Who needs a romantic partner when a club for lonely people offers superb company? Then again, why is it that everyone is trying to get out of it all the time?

A Familiar Position
[1.31.04] The first time I ever went skiing was about 10 years ago, when I went with my Dad's church. I remember putting on the skis and not being able to maneuver myself through the snow. I spent rest of the day inside, where they had some arcade machines. No longer affiliated with any church or any holy beliefs, I went with my secular Korean Students Association to Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Jersey only to find out that it was Christian Day, the place crawling with God's children. I guess that explains why a greater force had me struggling to stay balanced. Felt like an afternoon in Sodom.

The Director's Take
[1.10.04] Looking back, I think writing a screenplay was worth the 2-week anxiety and agony. It's regrettable that we only had one day to shoot, but I feel like we made the most out of it. I don't know when Wallet will be released - the audio is terrible - but if we can have one more try at shooting some scenes and then fixing the sound, it can be a decent short film. I was surprised that the handful of friends that I screened the film for found it watchable and even "engaging." Help find a score!

Computer Gaming
[1.10.04] After three grueling weeks, which included a painful screenwriting process, a near-impossible scramble for equipment, a one-day shoot, and two eternal nights of editing, our 15-minute short film, Wallet, was constructed, although not quite yet finished. Andy was an honored guest in my 112 sq. feet dorm single for almost a week as we switched bed/floor sleeping each day. He also learned to capture video for the first time and, as he does with most video games, he became quite skilled at the task very quickly.
