[2.16.04] Brie smells pretty bad, but when you spread it over bread, it's not so bad. I went into Starbucks last week and they gave out sample servings of cinnamon raisin bread with cheese and apple slices. I've adopted the combination into my own diet, although cheese can be pretty pricey. |

[2.19.04]
I was reading about Abraham Lincoln, and I just love how the forces of history can distort, mythologize, and magnify an individual to such a grand level of reverence and significance.
As many of my friends already know, I am a super neurotic, narcissistic character with wildly-flung delusions of grandeur but with a fairly grounded grasp of real life conditions, limitations, and even a sense of fatality. Ok, I'm going to compare myself to Lincoln now.
Before Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States, he had a very undistinguished public service record. He served only one term as a Congressman for Illinois and totally botched that with his "Spot" Resolution in regard to the Mexican War. However, he held a very well constructed political view of anti-slavery and Unionism and this balance, along with his connections with business interests of the West, propelled him to the national scene, going from consecutive Senatorial loser to President in 1860. It is also important to mention that the man had some great speech writing and oratorial skills.
Ok, me. I went to public school, which is close enough to being educated in a log cabin (haha - sike). Ok, before being elected president of KSA (haha - the gall to compare this to the president of US!), I had a very undistinguished record as Programming Officer of KSA. I admit, I barely did shit. But one thing I had was a view that a good number of people seemed to like - which was one of reform, of re-inventing the image of KSA, all while keeping the club "cool." I had the backing of key figures within the KSA membership community, and lo' and behold, I defeated a Douglas-like proven candidate. I don't want to go into any more detail because then you get to see where the comparisons totally fall apart, but yeah, call me Abe.
