pk.summer :: pictures, some words, and maybe some sort of insight

7.7.02. Sometimes a free day can feel so miserable. Today, for some reason, felt so uninteresting and unsatisfactory. After dropping my grandma at church, I played some ball, but it was in dead heat and although I gave my friend Arvind a good whooping, I felt too nasty from the weather to enjoy the time. Back at home, reading was a drag and there was no good food to cheer me up. The day was rescued by Harry; we played some quality tennis at Metuchen courts and my better-than-usual performance enhanced the fun; the evening weather was nice, so I came home very cheery. Such are the dynamics of summer; some moments make me want school to start again very soon, and some moments make me wish for summer to be prolonged.

7.8.02. the classics. There was a time when I read Calvin and Hobbes every chance I had. Of course, this was before my mom thought I should be reading more "intelligent" texts; she made me give away my entire collection to my other friends in elementary school. Now that I've slowly rebuilt my collection, I find it most relaxing to lie down on my bed and read through each Calvin and Hobbes book. They have great re-read value, and now that I'm older and wiser, I understand some jokes that I wasn't able to understand as a 6th grader. I wouldn't mind spending the entire summer reading Calvin and Hobbes - boy, some vacation that summer would be!
