6.16.02. Yesterday was Father's Day and I just had one of those pleasant recollections of my childhood. My family had a little backyard BBQ, and I took out the grill and plugged it into the outdoor electric outlet. The electricity didn't work, so my dad went into the basement and did one of his hands-on work on the electric switch board. The power came on and the grill began to heat up. My grandma, who was sitting nearby, told me, "I remember when you were little and you always used to say, 'My dad is like MacGyver, he can fix anything in the world.'" I actually did remember what she was talking about, and I think it was a nice thought to have on Father's Day, especially because I still believe my dad is the fix-it all man. |

| 6.7.02. flaming. There's nothing summer-like than the feeling you get from a BBQ. The HBA BBQ brought together old high school buddies, and it offered some of us to rework the grill. Welton's grill presented us with early problems as we discovered a mouse nest and had to spend a considerable time cleaning it out. The end result was a stack of good burgers and hot dogs, and a chance to see "everyone" together again. |
