yale [1.13]

Call it luck, call it coincidence, call it an inevitable occurrence. I mocked big head as we drove by New Haven on I-95 on the way to Boston. Yale had been his early decision choice of college and not getting in had been a huge disappointment to him. Being the great friend I am, I made sure he was reminded of the non-acceptance status [hehe]. I had threatened to make a stop at Yale on the way up just to poke fun, but on the way back, a visit to Yale became a reality. While Jeff was online at Dartmouth, he happened to IM a friend who went to Yale. I thought it would be cool to take a look at Yale because I had never been there; Jeff agreed that we should stop by, at least for dinner and a meeting with his friend, while big head was greatly opposed to the idea and showed his discontent. Outnumbered, big head's plea to get home quickly was ignored, and we descended upon head's would-have-been school. Patty, Jeff's friend, was a pretty, thin, tall girl of Chinese descent with Thai qualities. Appropriately, we went to a Thai restaurant where she recommended good dishes and we ate while all getting acquainted with each other. Just think - had head come to this school, she could've been a friend of his or at least someone he might've had classes with or passed by in the buildings. But then that just made me glad that head went to school in New York, where at least I could scrub off a few meals each semester and sleep over if I didn't want to go back uptown. After dinner, we got to see Patty's dorm and she took us on a short tour around Yale. The campus was very nice and gave off an aura of prestige; I wouldn't mind it if my sister went there or something, but as was the theme with MIT and Dartmouth - Yale simply lacked what New York City offers: a lot of minorities, panhandlers, a dirty subway, smelly streets, and lenient liquor store owners who don't care how crappy your ID is. I must say, though - the Thai food was excellent.
